Since 1989, Sharper Image Engravers has led the way in flexographic platemaking. We introduced one of the first liquid photopolymer flexo platemaking systems to the Chicago area, and were leaders in establishing photopolymer technology as an industry standard, making molded rubber all but extinct. Our 16,000 square foot facility features state-of-the-art flexographic platemaking equipment, and our Sharper Image Engravers team consists of more than thirty highly skilled professionals. Each year, our sales continue to grow, as we consistently surpass our customers’ expectations with an outstanding product, exceptional value, and service that is second to none.
Liquid
- The most environmentally friendly of the photopolymers, and well-suited to most any water-based ink printing application
- Resin recovery system allows for uncured photopolymer to be re-used in the plate making process.
- Sharper Image partners with only industry-leading suppliers for our resins and supporting materials.
Sheet
- Complete plate processing line, including state-of-the-art solvent recovery system.
- Material thickness ranges from .045″ to .250″ and a product line to support most any ink printing application.
Pre-Mounting
- We have 5 E.L. Harley Opticheck machines to provide our customers’ mounted plates with optimal registration, for quick and efficient set-up on their presses.
- Mounting materials include PVC, Mylar, Tin, Cushion Mount, and Magnetic
- Each customer’s printing press requirements are documented for all of our customers’ printing.
Optimount
- The Optimount is a mounting and proofing machine for flexo photopolymer printing plates, especially developed for the corrugated post-print flexo industry, which are provided with mylars. The Optimount is also equipped with a mirror which enables the user to mount without markings.
- This machine has been developed for our customers who demand the highest standards in mounting speed, repeatability, consistency and accuracy.
- The system is based on two co-ordinates (register-marks) that have been applied on the printing plate perpendicular to the print direction.
- The sturdy steel frame construction with heavy duty cylinder brackets and a temperature treated and grinded camera beam with double linear guiding ensures best calibration and excellent results throughout the years. The automatic positioning of both cameras and cylinders simplifies the mounting job, which improves and accelerates results considerably.
